Univercity
Park:
The
garden at the old Govt. House Ganeshkhind, Pune, now University
Park, was laid out by Mr.Woodrew a garden expert. It has been
expanding from time to time, under successive gardeners to
its present state.
This park possesses beautiful lawns,flower
beds, growing with numerous imported and acclimatized annuals,
thousand of large and small trees, shrub, ornamental plants
etc. All the above aspects and natural views from this park
with a well known historical building, the old Govt. house,
in the center of this park gives a unique position in the
state of Maharashtra. Parks and Gardens took over the charge
of this Park from the Military secretary to H.E. the Governor
of Bombay on 1st February 1948 with all its establishment
including the garden staff.
